2024 Guild Rules & Regulations

For those with tents of over 400 square feet or fabric structures (canopy) of over 700 square feet (a canopy with no sides) or if you have a group of canopies together with an aggregate of 700 square feet you will also need to maintain a permit from the San Luis Obispo Fire Department. You can get that form here.

Faire Hours:

  • Saturday, July 20: 10 am-6 pm
  • Sunday, July 21: 10 am-6 pm

Check-In:

  • Friday, July 19: 12 noon-10 pm
  • Saturday, July 20: 7:00 am-8:30 am
  • In person only. No remote check in.

Parking Passes:

  • $5 regular vehicle, $10 RV or vehicle and trailer

Parking:

  • Designated areas only; no parking in fire lanes or at the dog park. Do not park in the closes parking area, which is reserved for the public.

Set-Up:

  • Begins on Friday, July 19 at 12 noon
  • Guild sites must be completed by Saturday, July 20 at 9 am
  • Vehicles allowed on-site 7 am-9 am on Saturday morning

Tear-Down:

  • Begins after the Closing Parade & security run-through on Sunday, July 21
  • Vehicles are allowed on-site only after security authorization

Theme:

  • Guild sites and members should be 16th-century Elizabethan period-appropriate
  • Prohibited items: plastic tubing, modern awnings, tarps, ice chests, etc.
  • Costumes/garb should be 16th-century appropriate
  • Prohibited during faire hours: modern clothing, cell phones, sunglasses, wristwatches, cigarettes, etc.
  • Unnatural hair colors must be covered, and face piercings minimized

Pirates and Privateers:

  • Sunday is Pirate Day; Saturday is reserved for Renaissance-themed costumes
  • The public can dress as they wish
  • Faire participants must follow costume guidelines
  • Management has the final say in guild yard and attire

Wristbands:

  • Must be worn at all times and applied at time of check in.
  • $5.00 charge for replacement wristbands
  • Must be worn at all times; exceptions must be cleared by the Guild Coordinator
  • No leather wristband holders

Gate Lists:

  • Due 30 days before the event
  • Size may be limited based on the event’s needs
  • Fire Regulations: Guild structures must be certified fire-retardant
  • Fire extinguisher required for every 10 x 10 structure
  • No fires, open flames, candles, or lanterns allowed per city fire regulations

Camping:

  • Limited onsite camping on a first-come, first-served basis
  • 15 parking spots for self-contained units provided
  • No power on-site
  • Guild sites accommodate up to 3 members for overnight stay
  • El Chorro Regional Park offers amenities and is 20 minutes away

Local Guilds:

  • Considerate treatment of out-of-town Guilds/participants encouraged

Smoking:

  • No Smoking or vaping: No smoking or vaping in festival or in the park during faire or after hours, exceptions in vehicle only.

Laguna Lake:

  • Off-limits to all participants

Gate Duty:

  • Each Guild is required to participate in a “meet and greet” at the front gate
  • A minimum of 4, 5 or more preferred

Parades:

  • All guilds are required to participate in designated parades unless previous arrangements have been made with guild coordinator.

Morning Notes:

  • Guild Master/Mistress or designee is required to attend both Saturday and Sunday at 9 am

Pets:

  • Not allowed; service animals allowed with prior approval

Minors:

  • Guild responsibility to supervise minors at all times

Weapons:

  • Weapons must be peace-tied

Quiet Time/After Hours:

  • Quiet time at 10 pm; after-hours events require approval from Festival Event Management

Security:

  • Provided for all areas; not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen articles

Drugs and Alcohol:

  • Zero-tolerance for illegal drugs; alcohol prohibited for participants under 21

Ordinances:

  • Compliance with all Federal, State, and Local Ordinances required

Guild Responsibilities:

    • Guild Master/Mistress or designee responsible for ensuring members are aware of rules
    • Express permission to be photographed and recorded for future advertising
    • History Revisited has the final say and reserves the right to exclude or remove any Guild or member
    • Festival continuation depends on the behavior of all participants
