Please take some time to look around this website and you’ll see that the Central Coast Renaissance Festival truly is the most unique summer event on the Central Coast. The year is 1585. Queen Elizabeth and her stunning Royal Court are on their summer travels throughout England to meet her people. They stop at a small village near the English Channel. The excited villagers have prepared a celebration for Her Majesty, including a spectacular summer faire.
It’s living history and pageantry and you’ll be completely captivated by it. There are plays, comedy show, dance shows, music, parades, continuous entertainment and a real, full-contact joust, held twice daily.
This year’s joust is unique because it includes Virginia Hankins. She is descended from the ancient Celtic rulers, several European knights, an American Civil War cavalry commander and has been working with and training horses her entire life. She is one of a handful of professional female knights in the USA and is proud to continue carrying the banner of women warriors in the present day. Her skills include both mounted and dismounted weapons, archery, knives, cannon, crossbow, swords, quarterstaff, and many more.
Virginia is is a genuine all-American female fighter, archery stunt coordinator, mounted weapons trainer, jouster, female motorcycle rider, and professional lady knight soon to be seen on the upcoming weapons show Go West Trading. When you see her you see the real deal resulting from years of 4 or more hours of daily training, education, and dedication. You’ll surely enjoy the jousting, held at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM daily.
When you are hungry there is also a wide selection of delicious food and drinks, which you can enjoy on a shady haybale, on our dining patio or in the new Ale Garden.
There are plenty of things for the kids too, such as face painting, pony rides, a petting zoo, games and even a comedy parrot act. There’s something for everyone.
Oh, and the shopping is splendid. You can find any kind of hat, blouse or costume part you might want, along with jewelry, swords, drinking vessels, leather good, pottery, sweet smelling oils and so much more. The kids will love the wooden toys!
