This is the Armored Combat Tournament at the Central Coast Renaissance Festival—where history doesn’t just speak, it roars.
On July 19 & 20, 2025, some of the nation’s top historical fighters will bring renaissance warfare to life. These aren’t actors with prop swords—they’re trained martial artists wielding historically accurate weapons, their skills honed through years of discipline.
You will witness them fight through exhaustion in the Grand Melee, where only one warrior emerges victorious. They will unleash the raw power of polearm combat in intense team battles. Between bouts, the fighters will peel off dented armor, still pulsing with adrenaline.
“That moment when your visor closes,” says one veteran combatant, “the world narrows to you, your opponent, and the next perfect strike.”
Young squires can meet the knights between battles, feel the heft of a real broadsword, touch the scarred armor, and discover why these warriors call their craft the ultimate chess match.
